Advantages of Minicircle vector transfection

Compared to conventional plasmids, minicircle vectors have been demonstrated to greatly enhance transfection efficiency and to be capable of producing persistent high level of transgene expression in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, minicircle DNA-based nonviral vector systems are advantageous over viral vector systems, such as much smaller size, better safety profile, no risk of insertional mutagenesis and no host immune and inflammatory response.
